Two palm trees reportedly caught fire on Friday, which led to a home to catch fire as well.

It was reported around 2:45 p.m. on Churchill Avenue, near Decatur Boulevard and Meadows Lane. Investigators say the tree fire extended to the roof of a one-story home.

On Harmony Avenue, which is one street over, a third tree caught fire. There were no extensions to any buildings.

Around 3:45, the fire was reportedly completely extinguished. 3 victims were taken to the hospital, 2 of them were smoke victims and another had chest pains.

The fire on Churchill Avenue destroyed everything in the backyard, along with the attic and a room at the back of the house. Damage was estimated at $50,000.

A utility pole was also damaged by the flames, which cut the power to approximately 25 homes on Harmony Avenue and Churchill Avenue.

There was no damage to the house on Harmony Avenue.

Five adults and one teen were displaced by the fire. They said they did not need any assistance.

The cause of the fire is undetermined, but appears to be electrical in origin. The flames started on the patio, where electrical wires appeared near the patio cover.
