A group of people coming together for a Black Lives Matter rally Tuesday night were calling for peace.

About 50 people were at the event near Martin Luther King Boulevard and Carey Avenue.

The group says it was important to them that Tuesday's event was peaceful in the wake of last week's deadly police shootings.

"If we want change we got to get involved ourselves. It's not about protesting, yelling," said organizer Chanel Willis. "It's about getting involved in the community so we can make a change."

The organizer says she is planning to meet with police in the near future to discuss how she and others in the group can become more involved.
