Olympic gold medalist from Henderson auctioning gear to raise money for childhood disease

Posted

An Olympic medalist from Henderson is auctioning off his gear to raise money to fight childhood cancer.

Connor Fields won gold in Rio last year for BMX bike racing.

"When you say, 'I have a gold medal,' people look at you a bit different," Fields said.

Now, he's using his platform to give back.

Fields' race-worn gear from 2017 is up for auction, and all the money is going to St. Jude Children's Hospital.

The Memphis research hospital depends on donations, as they never charge families for care.

With another $500 of his own donation, Fields is poised to raise well over $1,000.

"If you don't want to bid on the jersey but you want to make a donation to St. Jude, then try to maybe consider them this holiday season," Fields said.
