LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Las Vegas police have cleared Northwest Career & Technical Academy after they say the "suspicious situation" which prompted a full evacuation has been deemed unsubstantiated.

LVMPD has not yet released further information about the one person detained Thursday during the response and building sweep, for which all students had been evacuated.

Early Thursday evening, NWCTA Principal Laura Willis released the following statement.

Greetings Northwest Career and Technical Academy families.

This is Principal Laura Willis. I wanted to provide an update on today’s evacuation. The campus has been cleared by police and the matter was deemed unsubstantiated. Classes will resume tomorrow. Students will be allowed extra time to gather belongings left on campus. All students are asked to report to their 8th-period class to start the day on Friday.

All students who left vehicles in the school parking lot can now pick up their vehicles. I would like to thank all students, staff, parents and first responders for their cooperation. If you have any questions or concerns, please call our school at 702-799-4640.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

School police coordinated a modified release of students in the 8200 block of Tropical Parkway Thursday as the investigation was underway.
