North Las Vegas man balks at plea in kidnap case

Posted
A 27-year-old Nevada man balked at pleading guilty, and will instead face trial on charges that he abducted and raped teenage girls, including some he kept as sex slaves.

Jimmy Carter Kim's lawyer, Jeff Maningo, said Wednesday that Kim changed his mind since telling a North Las Vegas judge March 1 that he'd plead guilty to one sex assault and three sexual assault of a minor charges.

The agreement had called for Kim to get 35 years to life in prison -- with 79 other charges dismissed, including kidnapping, lewdness, attempted sex assault and using a minor in producing pornography.

The case came to light after a 14-year-old Arizona girl told police in December she'd been held captive for a month at Kim's home.

Kim's next court date is Monday.
