UPDATE: Corner identifies victim of fatal crash north of Las Vegas

UPDATE OCT. 15: The Clark County Coroner has identified the decedent as 65-year-old Vientay Liemsithisak. Her cause of death was multiple blunt force trauma and Liemsithisak's death was ruled an accident.

ORIGINAL STORY
At about 1:01 p.m. this afternoon the Nevada Highway Patrol responded to a fatal crash on the southbound I-15 off-ramp at Las Vegas Boulevard, north of Las Vegas.

Police say the preliminary investigation determined that a gray Honda CRV was traveling south on I-15 approaching Las Vegas Boulevard after fleeing from a hit-and-run crash involving a silver Hyundai Sante Fe near Apex.

The Honda exited at Las Vegas Boulevard at a high rate of speed and for reasons unknown struck the rear of a red GMC Sierra that was stopped at the intersection of I-15 southbound and Las Vegas Boulevard at the stop sign.

The adult female driver of the Honda CRV was transported to UMC Trauma where she succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash and pronounced deceased.

This is an ongoing investigation and the I-15 southbound off-ramp at Las Vegas Boulevard is currently closed (at time of publication) while the investigation continues.

The identity of the driver has not yet been announced.
