The following is a roundup of breaking news from around the Las Vegas valley.
7:35 P.M.
Las Vegas police are investigating a fatal motorcycle crash on Cheyenne Avenue at Soaring Gulls Drive, east of Rampart Boulevard. Lane closures are in place for the on-scene investigation.
3:20 P.M.
LVMPD Dispatch received a call of a possible hit and run. The vehicle was located near a residence and a possible person in connection with the incident exited the home holding a machete. This person then went back into the residence, near Richmar Avenue and Spencer Street, and was refusing to come out. Officers set up containment as the situation remained active. Police later said the person was taken into custody.
10:30 A.M.
I-15 SB to go SR160 WB off ramp, overturned tractor trailer. Road closures will be in place while we investigate. Expect this ramp to be closed for most of the afternoon. Thankfully just a minor injury reported. Avoid the area!
5:23 A.M.
Clark County Fire Department responding to report of fire at South Point hotel-casino. Light smoke discovered in stairwell and hallway of 3rd floor, which is currently unoccupied. CCFD found a small fire, which had already been mostly distinguished by the building's fire sprinklers, in one of the rooms. The room suffered moderate damage. CCFD crews are in the process of coordinating the removal of smoke from the building using the buildings HVAC systems and will be turning the incident over to South Point management shortly. There were no injuries as a result of this incident.
4:59 A.M.
Las Vegas police are investigating a shooting near 1731 Las Vegas Boulevard South. Police say a man was shot by another man who ran away. However, police were able to take the possible shooter in custody. The victim is in the hospital in unknown condition.

A man was found dead and a woman shot herself fatally during a barricade situation this morning in North Las Vegas. READ MORE.
