The following is a roundup of breaking news from around the Las Vegas valley.

4:12 p.m.
There are reports of a helicopter crash near Red Rock Canyon National Recreation Area in the vicinity of Calico Basin. Las Vegas police's search and rescue is assisting Clark County Fire Department. Calls of the crash starting coming in at 3:55 p.m. near Blue Diamond Road. SR159 (West Charleston Boulevard) is closed in both directions. READ MORE

8:07 A.M.
Las Vegas police report a 74-year-old pedestrian was killed after he was struck by a vehicle while crossing the street outside of a marked crosswalk at the intersection of Buffalo Drive and Trinity Peak Avenue. The driver of the car did not show any signs of impairment, according to officers. The coroner identified the man killed as Colin Hall.

2:39 A.M.
Las Vegas police said a 34-year-old man was shot and killed after an argument took place in the 1750 block of S. Rainbow Boulevard, near Oakey Boulevard. The gunman left the scene, and police did not release an immediate description of the person. Anthony Esposito was later identified as the man killed.

2:30 A.M.
Las Vegas firefighters responded to a fire in an alley near Karen Court involving 2 cars. A nearby apartment building was briefly evacuated. No injuries were reported. Cause of fire unknown.
