The following is a roundup of breaking news from around the Las Vegas valley.
UPDATE 1:39 P.M.
Las Vegas police say officers were checking on a man who was reportedly violating his house arrest and committing other violations this morning in the downtown area when that person ran out the back door. Police say he started shooting at the officers chasing him, though police did not fire back. Authorities say the man was found dead near the home after a barricade situation. No word yet on how he died. The Clark County Coroner's office will identify the deceased and cause of death.
MAY 5 UPDATE: Police say that the man who died yesterday shot himself and was a house arrest escapee. They also said that they did not have any prior physical contact with the man before the shooting.
MAY 7 UPDATE: The Clark Count Coroner has identified the man as 28-year-old Donald Adams. The cause of death was perforating gunshot wound to the head, a suicide.
11:37 A.M.
Las Vegas police are looking for a person who they say shot at officers in the downtown area on Fremont near Bruce streets. Police say this is a dynamic event and ask the public avoid the area until the person is located.
UPDATE 7:15 A.M.
Eastern Avenue remains closed in both directions from Oakey Boulevard to St. Louis Avenue as authorities investigate a morning fire at a vacant home in the area where one person was found dead. Las Vegas homicide detectives, CSI, and the Clark County Coroner are on scene - which is standard for any deadly fire, authorities say. Las Vegas Fire and Rescue says the road should open again in about an hour.

UPDATE 5:32 A.M.
Las Vegas Fire and Rescue says one person was found dead in a bedroom as crews responded to a fire on 1700 Howard Road, near Sahara and Eastern. (Crews originally reported the fire was on Eastern Avenue.) The cause of the fire and the cause of death are under investigation.
