The following is a roundup of breaking news from around the Las Vegas valley.

8:55 P.M.
Las Vegas police are investigating a critical shooting that took place in the 600 block of 12th Street, near Bonanza Road and Maryland Parkway. Officers said two people were shot with one in critical condition. No immediate arrests were made. Officers updated the situation and reported the critically injured person later died.

8:21 P.M.
Officers responded to a report of shots fired at 7055 East Lake Mead Boulevard. A person was not shot but transported to the hospital for medical reasons with a suspect barricaded in a vehicle and SWAT officers at the scene.

2 P.M.
The Clark County School District Police Department reported a Garside Middle School student was arrested for having a BB gun. This student was charged with possession of a dangerous weapon on school property. Police said no threats were made in the incident.

UPDATE 9:30 A.M.
Due to heavy police activity in the area some streets around the Regional Justice Center have been temporarily closed. Bridger, Ogden, Carson, and Main, as well as the area around the Plaza Hotel are closed.

8:55 A.M.
Las Vegas police are at the scene of a shooting near Maryland Parkway and Vegas Valley Drive involving the department. 13 Action News has a crew on the way. This is breaking news, stay tuned for updates.

6:45 A.M.
A crash near I-15 northbound before Sahara Avenue is blocking left lanes.

5:42 A.M.
The Clark County Fire Department is currently responding to a fire at Wetlands Park on the east side of the valley. Officials say the fire is located North of the Silver bowl.

Chopper 13 is above the area. Below is a livestream of the scene.

5 A.M.
One person is dead and another person is in the hospital after an apartment caught fire near 1st Street and Gass Avenue. Firefighters say a sofa caught fire in the building and that no smoke alarms were installed in the home. Las Vegas Fire and Rescue says they will provide free smoke detectors, and install them, to people who need them. The Clark County coroner identified the man who was killed as 59-year-old Michael Jennings.

OVERNIGHT
Officials say an 18-year-old pedestrian was hit by a vehicle near Bonanza Road and Sloan Avenue. That man was transported to the hospital with life threatening injuries. Officials say he was jaywalking.

The driver stayed at the scene and police say impairment does not appear to be a factor.

OVERNIGHT
Police say one person is dead after being shot in a neighborhood near Tropicana Avenue an Nellis Boulevard. It happened shortly before midnight. A friend called to report the person had been shot and the person died at a hospital. Police said the suspects ran away from the scene before officers arrived with no immediate arrests.
