The following is a roundup of breaking news from around the Las Vegas valley.

5:25 P.M.
The Commission has received notice from Dream Center Education Holdings of the intended closure of the Art Institute of Las Vegas by March 31, 2019. This will permit students to complete the current semester prior to the closure. READ MORE

2:24 P.M. UPDATE
A 17-year-old male is in custody with Clark County School District Police near Valley High School after a parent alerted officers that the teen had a gun at 1:10 p.m. Officials say the teen is not enrolled in Clark County School District and they found a loaded MAC-10 semi-automatic weapon in his backpack.

The juvenile has been charged with 2 felonies, 1 gross misdemeanor and 3 misdemeanors, including minor in possession of a firearm and possession of a weapon under the influence. No threats were made.

12:46 P.M.
One person was shot in the leg near Boulder Highway and Russell Road. Police say they are checking the area to make sure no one else was injured. 3 people are in custody in connection with the shooting, but officials say there may be more suspects. According to witnesses there is a heavy police presence in the area and at least one person has been evacuated.

12:43 P.M.
A 17-year-old youth is in custody with Clark County School District Police near Valley High School. More information to come.

9:15 A.M.
Opal Dr. is closed between Janice Dr. and Dirt Rd. Police are in the area trying to retrieve someone barricaded in a home.
