LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — The following is a roundup of breaking news from around the Las Vegas valley.

4:45 P.M.

North Las Vegas police are investigating a shooting that turned into a homicide in the 4800 block of Rancho Linda, near Craig Ranch Regional Park.

4:25 P.M.

Firefighters battled a bedroom fire within in a home in the 3300 block of Plaza Del Paz, near Sahara Avenue and Rancho Boulevard. The fire gutted a portion of the house and caused an estimated $60,000 in damages. No injuries reported and the cause remains under investigation.

3:20 P.M.

Las Vegas police have received reports that telephone scammers are spoofing the department's “828” prefixed numbers to possibly solicit or scam victims. The LVMPD does not call and request payments of any sort, according to police. If a call is received in regards to an investigation and is unsure of the authenticity of the caller, please get their name and number and call 702 828-3111 and ask to be connected to that officer or employee.

Caller ID spoofing allows you to display a phone number different than the actual number from which the call was placed. Caller ID spoofing technology works for both phone calls and text messages on your smartphone.

1:16 P.M.
Las Vegas police say a man is dead after being found in the road near Brittlewood Avenue and Lamoille Circle (near Hacienda Avenue and Pecos Road). Initially, it was believed the man may have been hit by vehicle. It was later determined that the man had been shot. The coroner will identify the deceased. No arrests have been made.
