The following is a roundup of breaking news from around the Las Vegas valley.
9: 45 A.M.
At approximately 9:45 a.m., patrol officers were dispatched to investigate a report of a deceased male found at a residence located in the 5400 block of Viscount Carlson Drive near Maryland Parkway and East Hacienda Avenue. Officers arrived and were directed to the backyard where the body was located. Detectives from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Homicide Section responded to the scene and are investigating.
The deceased was later identified as 44-year-old Asibayo Whitfield. No city of residence listed. His cause of death was sharp force injuries and his death was ruled a homicide.
UPDATE APRIL 3: LVMPD homicide detectives said they identified 42-year-old Anthony Nash as the suspect in the case and took Nash into custody without incident on April 2. He was transported to CCDC, where he faces charges for open murder with a deadly weapon.
