FEB 19 UPDATE: The Clark County Coroner has identified the decedent as 61-year-old Michael Salladino. Salladino's death was due to multiple blunt force trauma and it was ruled an accident.
UPDATE 3:09 P.M.
Las Vegas police say a man believed to be in his 30s was running south through the intersection of Sahara Avenue and Las Vegas Boulevard, and ran into a car's passenger-side of the vehicle, shortly after 11 a.m. Authorities say the car came to a controlled stop after the crash and the driver remained at the scene. She did not show any signs of impairment, police say.
The man hit was transported to University Medical Center's trauma center where he was pronounced dead. His identity and cause of death will be released by the coroner's office.
His death marks the 14th traffic-related death in the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's jurisdiction for the year 2021. The crash remains under investigation.
11:50 A.M.
Las Vegas police say they are investigating an incident involving an armed suicidal subject at a hospital on North Durango Drive. At this time, there are no reported injuries. The person has been taken into custody. Residents are advised to avoid the area.
According to a spokesperson for Centennial Hills Hospital, an adult female appeared in the Emergency department of Centennial Hills Hospital earlier today threatening herself, with a gun she had on her person. The situation was quickly brought under control.
All patients, visitors and staff members are safe.
11:10 A.M.
Las Vegas police are on the scene of a fatal incident near Sahara Avenue and Las Vegas Boulevard involving a silver sedan and pedestrian. The pedestrian was transported to UMC Trauma where he has been pronounced deceased. Sahara and Las Vegas Boulevard are currently closed to traffic. Expect delays, as this investigation is ongoing.
