The following is a roundup of breaking news from around the Las Vegas valley.

4:58 P.M.
Las Vegas police are investigating after an SUV hit a man in a wheelchair at South Sandhill Road and East Flamingo Road. Witnesses say the man in the wheelchair was crossing South Sandhill Road in a crosswalk when the SUV turned to go west on East Flamingo Road and hit him. The man was transported to Sunrise Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The SUV did not stop at the scene.

9:56 A.M.
Henderson Police and Fire responded to a collision involving 3 vehicles near St. Rose Parkway and Seven Hills Drive. 2 people were transported to a local hospital. Speed and impairment do not appear to be a factor at this time. Expect traffic delays as northbound Seven Hills Drive from West Horizon Ridge Parkway to St. Rose Parkway are closed. Please avoid the area as the scene is still active.

8:32 A.M.
Clark County Fire responded to reports of a house fire at 1693 E. Desert Inn Road. CCFD responded a “high” level structural fire response sending 3 engines, 1 truck, 1 rescue and 1 battalion chief. Upon arrival, crews found smoke and flames coming from the front door of the home, which was reported to be vacant. The first unit arrived within 3 minutes of the initial dispatch. The first arriving engine began to extinguish the fire from the exterior and then transitioned to the interior to complete extinguishment. The fire was knocked down at 0841. A life search was performed with no civilians found inside.

7:12 A.M.
Nevada Highway Patrol has identified a man killed after he was reportedly hit by a compact SUV while crossing Interstate 15 over the weekend as 69-year-old Robert Varacalli from Middlesex, New Jersey.

According to authorities, a Chevrolet Trailblazer was traveling northbound on I-15 approaching the Sahara/I-15 northbound on-ramp shortly before 5:30 a.m. on Dec. 19. The agency says Varacalli was walking across the northbound travel lanes on I-15 at the time of the crash. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His death marks the Nevada Highway Patrol – Southern Command’s 65th deadly crash of 2020, resulting in 75 fatalities for the year. The crash remains under investigation. READ ORIGINAL REPORT

UPDATE 6:40 A.M.
Lanes are back open near Eastern Avenue and Desert Inn Road as of 6:40 a.m. after a brief shutdown this morning. Firefighters responded to a fire at a vacant commercial building on 3399 South Eastern Avenue (near Desert Inn Road) shortly before 5 a.m.

The fire is out and the cause remains under investigation. No injuries to report. The cost of damage has not yet been determined.

6 A.M.
Firefighters are responding to an incident on the southbound side of Eastern Avenue near Desert Inn Road. According to the Regional Transportation Commission, all street lanes in this area were blocked at 6 a.m.
