The following is a roundup of breaking news from around the Las Vegas valley.

9:30 P.M.
Las Vegas Bomb squad and police are investigating a suspicious device at an apartment complex near Hualapai Way and Sahara Avenue. Roads remain open in the area but Sahara is down to one lane.

Police say officers responded to a call just after 7:30 p.m. of an armed man in a medical crisis. Officers negotiated with the man for some time before he finally came outside and was brought into custody. Police say while officers were clearing the apartment they found a suspicious device so they evacuated surrounding apartments.

The bomb squad checked the device and it was a plastic land mine replica.

8:15 P.M.
One person is in critical condition after a "high" level fire at an apartment building on Jericho Street near Desert Inn Road and Arville Street, according to Clark County Fire Department. The person rescued was transported to UMC. The cause of the fire is under investigation. At this time it is unknown if anyone has been displaced.
