LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Assembly Republicans sent a letter on Wednesday urging the Office of Inspector General (OIG) at the Department of Labor (DOL) to investigate the continuous failures of Nevada’s Department of Employment, Training & Rehabilitation (DETR) program.

“Since the onset of the pandemic, DETR has failed to take the proper actions needed to administer unemployment claims,” said Assembly Republican Leader Robin Titus. “The current administration and DETR have failed to communicate to lawmakers and the public what steps, if any, they are taking to fix ongoing problems. The recent news of rampant fraudulent unemployment claims only validate the need for an external investigation by the Department of Labor’s inspector general.

“The frustration, pain, and desperation of Nevada families due to the administration’s handling of the unemployment system is well documented by media outlets. Nevada families can no longer afford Governor Sisolak’s inaction. We urge the OIG to take swift action to identify the problems and determine the solutions needed to get Nevada families the help they require immediately.”
