Nev. metropolitan areas see drop in unemployment

The unemployment rates in Nevada’s metropolitan areas saw a decline in February and year-over-year.

The Las Vegas rate fell to 5.6 percent, while Reno/Sparks’ rate fell to 5.3 percent. The Carson City area rate dropped to 6.7 percent. As reported last week, the statewide unemployment rate fell to 5.9 percent, the lowest it has been since April 2008.

Las Vegas experienced the highest nominal growth, adding 22,800 jobs over the year, while the Reno/Sparks’ area increased employment by 6,100.
