ORIGINAL STORY
JEAN (KTNV) -- Nevada Highway Patrol troopers were involved in a deadly shooting Thursday evening near Interstate 15 in Jean.
NHP Southern Command Public Information Officer Travis Smaka said authorities were informed about a possible road rage situation just before 6 p.m. involving a black F-150 pickup truck and a black Dodge Ram on I-15.
Troopers said the initial call came from a person inside the Dodge Ram truck saying that the F-150 was following with a person in that pickup showing a gun.
The two trucks eventually exited the highway and stopped in the parking lot of the NHP Substation in Jean, located at 22680 South Las Vegas Blvd.
Two troopers inside the building exited after they heard the commotion outside, according to Trooper Smaka. Both state troopers then shot the armed person who was exiting the F-150.
NHP said the troopers rendered aid to the injured party, but the individual died at the scene.
No other injuries were immediately reported in the incident, and Trooper Smaka said his information was preliminary with more details to be released as authorities continue their investigation.
