LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — The Nevada Highway Patrol responded to a number of incidents during the New Year's overnight hours.
Troopers reported they made 23 DUI arrests along with investigating 11 property damage crashes, 11 injury collisions, and three hit-and-run calls during a 12-hour stretch from 6 p.m. Dec. 31 to 6 a.m. Jan. 1.

These numbers were an increase over last year, according to the department, with the collision calls considered non-life threatening.
NHP also stressed that driving impaired is preventable, especially heading into the new year.
Between 6pm Dec 31st thru 6am Jan 1st, NHP arrested 23 for impaired driving. Also an officer from @LVMPD was struck by an impaired driver. When as a community are we going to say ENOUGH!
