Did Melania Trump commit plagiarism?

Posted

Imitation may be the highest form of flattery, but when does it cross into plagiarism?

“To think that she would be cribbing Michelle Obama's words is crazy," Campaign manager Paul Manafort told CNN.

The Trump campaign maintains Melania Trump's speech Monday night used common words and values.

“I just don't see it. I mean unfortunately it's kind of the malady of the first night of the convention,” Chris Christie told CNN.

“It is a challenge to deliver that big speech in here, you gotta come up with the words, put it on the teleprompter, read it,” said political analyst and professor Susan MacManus “As a college professor we can see when our students turn in work that's word for word.”

MacManus says the coincidence is hard to deny, but whether Melania's words were her own depends on what side of the aisle you're on.

“This is all about politics. Obviously the democrats are going to try to make hay and say Trump is lying because the Trump campaign has accused Hillary of lying,” she said.
