Mount Charleston planned power outage to prevent wildfires

Here in Southern Nevada, a planned power outage will begin on Mount Charleston at noon today.

NV Energy says its in an effort to prevent wildfires.

Nearly 500 customers will be impacted.

The company says the outage which begins at noon will last about 22 hours and that includes the time it will take to inspect lines for possible damage.

This might have to do with anticipated winds coming in today.

A drive-thru customer resource center at the retreat on Charleston Peak will be open to give out water and snacks.
