LAS VEGAS (KTNV) -- A motorcyclist has died in a crash Friday evening in northwest Las Vegas.
The crash involving a motorcycle and van occurred around 5:35 p.m. near Cheyenne Avenue and Fort Apache Road.
Police said the motorcycle was traveling a high rate of speed when a van made a U-turn into the path of the motorcycle.
The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The rider was a man in his 30s.
Police said the driver of the van was cooperative with police and was not suspected of being impaired.
It was the 97th traffic-related fatality in the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's jurisdiction this year.
