Motorcyclist critical after early morning crash

A motorcyclist is in critical condition following an early Sunday morning crash.

Police said a Kia Forte was turning left on a green arrow on Silverado Ranch Boulevard at Gilespie Street, east of Las Vegas Boulevard, when a motorcyclist was traveling the other direction on Silverado Ranch and went through a red light at the intersection. The front of the Honda motorcycle struck the passenger side of the Kia.

The motorcycle overturned and the rider, identified as 31-year-old Pili Richards of Las Vegas, was ejected. He was taken to UMC Trauma with critical injuries.

The Kia driver, 68-year-old Joan Aston, received minor injuries. Police said she remained at the scene and showed no signs of impairment.

The crash remains under investigation.
