UPDATE OCT. 23: The Clark County Coroner has identified the moped driver as James Harris from Las Vegas.

UPDATE AT 7:20 AM: Police are still working the scene and the intersection is still closed. In addition, police say that it was a moped and not a motorcycle involved in the crash.

Police say that the moped rider, a 48-year-old man, was traveling east on Flamingo and ran a red light. A car that was turning left hit the moped. The driver was on his way to work and is cooperating with police.
Police say the moped rider was not wearing a helmet.
The intersection is still closed at this time.

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) -- A crash involving a motorcycle has closed the intersection near Flamingo Road and Valley View Boulevard.
The crash was reported at 5:01 a.m. Police have confirmed that it is fatal.
At this time, no other information is available. Motorists should avoid the area.
The Clark County coroner will identify the deceased after relatives have been notified.
