An Ohio mother was arrested after taking a trip to Las Vegas while her daughter was chained in the basement as punishment.
Stafonda Hawkins was in court on Thursday for a parole violation. She was arrested by an Ohio fugitive task force after they learned she was returning to Ohio after a trip to Las Vegas.
Hawkins was reportedly staying with family in Las Vegas, including a young son.
At this point, investigators have not charged her with any crime connected to the shackling case.
Her 13-year-old daughter told police she was held captive by her step-father and step-brother. The girl says she was detained on multiple occasions and was forced to eat spoiled food and defecate in a bucket.
She managed to free herself and was found by two women who called the police.
