LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — More than 70 people and eight pets were forced out of their home after an apartment fire in Las Vegas on Thursday night, according to firefighters.
Las Vegas Fire and Rescue responded to a fire at Rancho Verde Apartments on Martin Luther King Boulevard, near the US-95 and Interstate 15, shortly after 6 p.m.
Officials say damage was confined to the one apartment and is estimated at $75,000.
There were no reported injuries
Power to the building has been shut off because crews are unsure what caused the fire, authorities say. Utilities will be shut off while the investigation continues and until authorities can determine a cause.
16 apartments are impacted.
The American Red Cross is working with management for the building to make sure everyone has a place to go for the night, firefighters say.
