A Mojave High School student was arrested after officials said he was found with a handgun.
According to a letter sent to parents, the student was arrested near the football field shortly after school was out for the day around 3:15 p.m. Wednesday. Clark County School District police said the 15-year-old boy was in possession of a .40 caliber firearm.
The student had not been in school all day and a staff member alerted CCSD police to his presence when they saw him on campus.
The student initially resisted arrest before being taken into custody by CCSD police. He is being charged with having a gun on school campus, minor in possession of a firearm and resisting arrest.
The letter states there were no threats made to students or the school.
This is the fourth student arrested with a gun on campus this school year. A student was arrested on Aug. 28 at Sierra Vista High School, a 16-year-old student was arrested Aug. 22 at Centennial High School for bring a loaded gun to school and another student was arrested Aug. 13 for bringing a gun to Green Valley High School.
