LVMPD Honor Guard travels to Dallas

Two Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Honor Guard officers are traveling more than a thousand miles in a show of solidarity after last Thursday's tragedy.

Officers say it's not an easy time for law enforcement right now, but say most people in Las Vegas are appreciative of the work they do, but regardless, everyone gets their protection.

"There's somebody out there right now. Whether it's a child, a single mom, that needs our help, and our job is to go find them and give them help," Capt. Richard Fletcher said.
This entire trip is not costing the department anything. Southwest Airlines is donating the tickets and Albertsons is taking care of the rest.
"They've been supporters of us in the community, helping to keep our families safe, our employees safe, and our customers safe, and that's where we try to give back to them and say we're here to help support you," said Albertsons district manager Chuck Cummins.

LVMPD Lt. Harry Fagel also released a poem called "A Brief Note for Dallas."
