Friends and family gathered on Friday evening to remember the life of 14-year-old Giovanni Melton.
Melton was killed earlier this month when police say his father shot him during an argument.
The memorial was held at the Gay and Lesbian Community Center of Southern Nevada.
Family members say Giovanni's father killed him because "he would rather have a dead son than a gay son."
The father told police he didn't mean to kill his son, and that the gun accidentally went off.
