LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Melinda Sheckells, lifestyle and entertainment expert and editor of OffTheStrip.com, shares recommendations on what to eat and drink this week in Las Vegas.
This week, Tuesday Tuesday bounces from the newest Italian restaurant in town on the westside to a classic haunt Downtown with what could be the city’s best burger.
The Newest Restaurant in Town
Al Solito Posto in Tivoli Village from chef James Trees, known for James Beard nominated Downtown eatery Esther’s Kitchen, is in soft opening. The grand opening is planned for January 22 but reservations are available now on OpenTable. Al Solito Posto means ‘At The Usual Place’, and by design it is a restaurant and lounge offering neighborhood-favorite Italian dishes and inventive cocktails.
The all-star cast features Executive Chef Emily Brubaker, formerly of Joel Robuchon/Sage, while Beverage Director David Bonatesta, formerly of NoMad, guides the bar program. Carlo Cannuscio, formerly of Valentino, Bartolotta, Twist, oversees the dining room alongside General Manager Andy St. John, ex-Bouchon, Carbone.
Dishes include beef carpaccio, pappardelle bolognese, fried burrata scarpetta, garlic bread, eggplant parmigiana and chicken piccata. Don’t miss the negroni bar where you can customize your cocktail with different types of gin, bitters and vermouths. Also on the cocktail menu find a clarified Milk Punch, fig-infused Old-Fashioned twist and Italian-inflected apple martini.
The Best Burger in Town
The burger game is often a heated competition. But our vote for a top contender in the category is the black angus burger at Oscar’s at Plaza Las Vegas. Chef Ben Jenkins sandwiches two patties in between American cheese, pickles, shredded lettuce and toasted brioche. It also comes with an incredible view of Fremont Street and the new Circa Las Vegas. This burger is available in the lounge and also by special request in the dining room.
