Passengers advised to arrive early at McCarran

It was a little busier than usual on Monday at McCarran International Airport.

The airport sent out a tweet early Monday morning advising passengers to arrive at least two hours before their flights were scheduled to leave.

Although there have been many reports lately of long wait times to pass through security at other airports around the country, that was not the case in Las Vegas.

A spokesperson for the Transportation Security Administration said that security wait time did not exceed 20 minutes at any security checkpoint on Monday despite the fact that McCarran saw approximately 10,000 more passengers on Monday than on a regular day.

It could have definitely been worse. Officials say at least 70 percent of travelers went by car to their vacation this year, which means that McCarran and other airports across the nation were just a little less packed than it would normally be.
