A vehicle drove into a Desert Shores lake near the intersection of Breakwater and Port of Call drives around 11:55 p.m. on April 17.
A male driver and female passenger were found by police standing on the roof of a car that was completely submerged underwater. Officers say the car was about twenty feet away from the shore when they spotted it.
The man and woman were pulled to shore using a small raft and fire hose inflated with air.
Both were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and the vehicle remains submerged in the lake at this time.
Officers suspect impairment played a part in the crash.
