Man loses eye after brutal bus stop attack

A man was brutally beaten within an inch of his life at a bus stop earlier this summer.

Jerry Ortiz and his family have encountered what they can only call a nightmare since they moved from California to Las Vegas.

A disagreement in June between Ortiz and two co-workers escalated to the point that he quit his job. Two days later, he was waiting at this bus stop when authorities say the men jumped him and delivered a savage beating.

"They hit him hard enough to break the bones behind his eye and actually, his eye was not salvageable, so he's lost his eye," said his wife, Debbi Martinez.

One of the two suspects, Brandon Legnon, has been arrested.

North Las Vegas police continue to search for Quinton Hutchinson.

Meanwhile, the couple's life has been a whirlwind of doctor appointments.

The heartbreaking part for the family is that Ortiz is now limited with what he can do with his son, who Martinez says is taking this hard.

Martinez says her husband is living in fear, not knowing if anyone else is going to come after him. The family's looking at moving to another part of town.

They've started a GoFundMe page for the medical bills.
