A man was arrested on Thursday morning after leading Nevada Highway Patrol on a wild chase.

NHP says the chase began around 1:30 a.m. and ended at approximately 2:30.

NHP attempted to stop a driver on the 215 beltway near West Charleston Boulevard. However, the man refused to stop.

NHP pursued the vehicle, with the chase beginning in earnest around Summerlin Parkway.

The driver made a U-turn at Lone Mountain and began traveling south on the beltway.

NHP put a spike strip down in an attempt to stop the driver, which was unsuccessful.

The driver finally lost control of his car around Warm Springs Road and was taken into custody at gunpoint. NHP says that the man continued to try to fight them even after he was taken to jail.

No other drivers or NHP troopers were hurt in the incident.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department also provided assistance.

It is not known why he ran, but there is a report of a possible incident involving casino security earlier in the night.
