UPDATE OCT. 30: The family of a man killed on Friday on Hassell Avenue in North Las Vegas wants his killer to be charged.
North Las Vegas police have said that the man was shot by his wife in self-defence. At this time, she has not been charged.
The man has been identified by his family as Jamal Jelkes. His mother told 13 Action News that Jamal was a hard-working man and a good father and they don't know anything about possible past cases of domestic violence.
Jamal's mother says he was shot in the back, which means he could not have been the agressor.
Jamal's mother says that what happened is not fair to the family and the kids and they want answers.

North Las Vegas Police are investigating a homicide after a man is found shot outside a home near Lake Mead and Simmons.
Police say just after 12:30 p.m. a man and woman were seen arguing outside a home on Hassell Avenue when the woman is believed to have shot the 31-year-old man. They also say the 26-year-old woman did stay on scene until officers arrived.
Officials confirmed the victim and the woman knew each other. Some neighbors told 13 Action News, they have seen them before while walking with children.
Police say several shots were fired, which worried neighbors since many children stayed home today.
"We're lucky because this isn't a school day, it's Nevada Day, and kids are up and down riding their bicycles and playing up and down the street," said neighbor Chris Spinney.
Police said the woman was detained, but they did not say if she would face any charges. They also said she was cooperating with their investigation.
