UPDATE: Driver arrested in deadly hit-and-run crash in NW Vegas

UPDATE 4:40 P.M.: Las Vegas police said Brian Alton, 26, was the driver arrested in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash from early Friday morning in the northwest part of town.

Alton was taken into custody and booked into the Clark County Detention Center after showing signs of impairment at the time of the arrest, according to police.

The vehicle that struck the pedestrian had left the scene along with Alton, but was located in a nearby neighborhood.

This collision was the 41st traffic-related fatality in LVMPD's jurisdiction for 2019.

UPDATE 8:45 A.M.: Police say one person is in custody after a deadly hit-and-run crash near N. El Capitan Way and Horse Drive.

That person and the vehicle officers believe to be involved in the crash were found nearby on Plantation Avenue.

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) -- One man is dead after a hit-and-run crash in the northwest part of the valley, according to Las Vegas police.

The crash happened shortly before 5:50 a.m. at N. El Capitan Way and Horse Drive, near Floyd Lamb Park.

Police say they found the body of man who appeared to have been hit by a car traveling at a high rate of speed while he was walking.

Police have no suspect information at this time.
