A 29-year-old was critically injured in a crash Thursday night.
The crash was reported around 8:30 p.m. near West Centennial Parkway and North Torrey Pines Drive. Police said a 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe, operated by 29-year-old Carlos Arias-Aguilar, was traveling east on West Centennial Parkway above the posted speed limit when the vehicle traveled over the curb and into the dirt area east of the intersection.
The Chevrolet struck a fence post before overturning. The unrestrained driver was ejected from the vehicle and came to rest in the water drainage channel below.
Arias-Aguilar was transported to UMC Trauma with critical injuries.
Evidence at the scene suggests alcohol was a factor in the collision.
