A man was arrested on felony hit-and-run charges Thursday after a pedestrian died in a crash in August.

37-year-old Robert Austin was arrested in the Aug. 8 crash near Sloan Lane and Commodore Cove Drive, near Sahara Avenue. Police said he hit the pedestrian, identified as 63-year-old Jose Rozada-Vega, and fled the scene. According to police, the pedestrian was not in a marked crosswalk.
Rozada-Vega was transported to the hospital and died of his injuries on Aug. 16.
After the crash, police determined the vehicle involved was a 2004 red Ford Mustang. On Aug. 21, police located the vehicle at a residence near the crash scene. Austin was then located and arrested Sept. 13.
