UPDATE: Suspect who fled substation identified

UPDATE 4: The suspect was identified as 39-year-old Ivan Mayoral. He is described as a Hispanic male, 39 years old, 5'9" and about 200 pounds. He was last seen wearing a red plaid shirt and blue jeans.

UPDATE 3: Police confirmed around 10:30 p.m. that the suspect is not in the substation and have cleared the scene. The suspect is still on the loose.

UPDATE 2: Officers are heading into the building with SWAT, K9 units, and police robots. They are unsure if the suspect is still inside, but they say that they are not taking any chances. They have had no recent contact with the suspect.

Police are also searching the surrounding community for the suspect. 

Reports say the suspect, a Hispanic male, was initially arrested on stolen vehicle charges. He slipped out of his handcuffs and took off, which prompted police response. Police say he did not have access to weapons at the time of the incident.

UPDATE: SWAT vehicles have arrived on scene. Investigators say that a suspect slipped out of handcuffs and may have access to weapons. A barricade has been placed around the substation.

ORIGINAL STORY:

Chopper 13 was live over the scene of the the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's Northeast Area Command Center on Friday.

LVMPD officers surrounded their headquarters, located at Pecos Road and Las Vegas Boulevard and also put up crime scene tape.

A nearby park and recreational center was also evacuated as a result of this event.

We have a crew on the scene that is working to determine why the building is currently being blocked off.
