You may have to go to work today but a lot of people are hoping come Monday morning that won't be the case!

The Mega Millions jackpot is $1 billion while the Powerball jackpot stands at $470 million.

The odds of anyone winning the jackpot is 1 in 300,000. Those odds did not discourage dozens of people who braved the cold in line before sunrise at Primm Friday.

We met some people have been out there since Thursday night like Yvonne Thompson.

"You always have to take that chance right? Don't you think?"

As far as increasing the chances of winning, there is only one sure way to increase your odds of winning and that is to buy more tickets.

To increase the chances of winning, many have been turning to office pools or joining a group that is buying a large number of tickets and splitting the jackpot among themselves.

Some people turn to tips and tricks they swear by. Whether or not these actually help, it doesn't hurt to try.

Others hold off on playing the bigger jackpot like Friday because your earnings are actually smaller if you buy tickets during huge jackpots since more people are playing, so your odds of sharing the money are much higher.

John Fel's strategy, "I use birthdays for my own and just quick picks for everybody else."

If somebody wins the Mega Millions Friday, it will be the second-largest jackpot in U.S. lottery history. Meanwhile, the drawing for Powerball is Saturday.
