The late celebrity chef Kerry Simon will be honored with a tribute by the Las Vegas hospitality community on Oct. 18.
Simon passed away on Sept. 11 after a brave battle with Multiple System Atrophy, which is also known as MSA. He passed away surrounded by his friends and family.
Participating properties include The Palms, The Cosmopolitan, Station Casinos (all properties), Fremont Street Experience, the Miracle Mile Shops, Maverick Helicopter's marquee, Gold Spire and Inspire Theater.
The tributes will begin at 7 p.m. Properties will broadcast a photo of Kerry Simon for a 3-5 minute static time period or in rotation throughout the hour.
Simon was diagnosed in December 2013 and went public shortly after. Kerry’s newfound mission in life was to improve the level of knowledge of MSA, speak up to increase global awareness of the disease and to create a network for those affected by MSA and their families.
Simon was one of the first celebrity chefs to make his mark on the Las Vegas valley. He owned several restaurants throughout the years and was honored with a memorabilia case at the Hard Rock hotel-casino.
