LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — A Las Vegas Uber driver is looking for the family that gave her an extraordinary surprise on New Year's Eve.

Charlesteine Dantzler, who goes by Charlie, says she received a $2,000 tip during one of her drives.

"You hear stories like this but you just don't know if it will ever happen to you," Dantzler said.

She is a single mother who works two jobs, on top of driving for Uber, in order to make ends meet. Dantzler says this year has been hard for her and her 7-year-old daughter.

She drove on New Year's Eve because she was hoping to cash in on the holiday rush. Around 8 p.m., she picked up a family at Circus Circus Hotel & Casino and drove them to the Bellagio Hotel & Casino.

During that ride, Dantzler says the family asked her about her life.

"I told them pretty much my whole life story," Dantzler said. "Growing up in foster care, moving out here at the age of 21, [I'm a] single parent you know just trying to make it work."

She told the family she had been driving a rental car to do Uber and was working to get car of her own.

That's when the family offered her $2,000.

Dantzler says she was shocked.

"This is not a joke, like I did break down crying," she said.

"I had to race down the window because I got extremely hot and I was sweating. It was amazing," she added. "He said, 'It's not my money. It's God's money.' He's like, 'You deserve it.'"

Dantzler now says she needs help to find the family and thank them.

She knows the family's name and that they are from Arizona but has had no luck finding their contact information, even after contacting Uber and her bank.

"They wanted to stay in touch. They wanted updates and things like that and I have no idea on how to find them," Dantzler said.

She even reached out to our sister station, KXNV in Phoenix, Arizona, to see if they could help.

Dantzler is hoping the family hears about this story and reaches out so that she can thank them. She says this family's kindness has given her a new outlook on life.

"There are good people in this world, not everybody is bad," Dantlzer said.
