LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Las Vegas is waking up to the 40s for the first time since early April.

Highs this afternoon in the 50s will be the chilliest weather we've seen since March!

The forecast high of 58° is 2° above the record cool high temperature for the date of 56° set in 1951.

Average highs in late October are in the mid-70s, so this is nearly 20° colder than normal.

Gusts will hit 40 mph today in Las Vegas, where a Wind Advisory is in place, and 60 mph gusts are forecast on Lake Mead and down the Colorado River Valley, so a High Wind Warning has been issued.

CURRENT CONDITIONS | 13 First Alert Weather

A Red Flag Warning for elevated fire danger is also in effect.

These products will expire at 9 p.m., and winds will drop under 20 mph fairly quickly after 7 p.m. in Las Vegas.

There's a Freeze Warning outside the Las Vegas valley tonight because places like Mesquite and Indian Springs may drop to the low 30s for the first time this season.
