LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority rolled out new “Vegas Changes Everything” commercials. For the first time the city is aggressively marketing Las Vegas as an ideal spot for the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.

Anthony Curtis is the publisher of the Las Vegas Advisor. He said this campaign goes against what used to be the conventional wisdom about Las Vegas during the holidays.

"The Vegas movers and shakers have always figured that holidays people stay home,” Curtis said.

Tourism slows way down in late November and December right around the time the National Finals Rodeo wraps up. The ads will air on TV and on social media in cities that are within driving

distance of Las Vegas Including Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, and Phoenix where it would be both an attractive and affordable option.

According to Money Wise, an online personal finance site, in 20-19 the average American will spend $186 per person for Thanksgiving alone. Eliminating the hassle of meal planning, cooking, and clean up and

the Las Vegas Strip would definitely hold some appeal for some stressed out holiday cooks.

"Every major resort and even the smaller places are going to have special thanksgiving dinners and special Christmas dinners,” said Curtis. “It’s also a bargain hunter's paradise because of less visitation. And room rates are very low. It’s kind of an in-the-know play to come to Vegas for the holidays and you get a great deal.”
