A woman was shot and killed by Las Vegas police after a confrontation on Thursday morning.
The incident began shortly after 8:30 a.m. Police responded to a call about a stolen car.
They obtained the license plate number, found the car, and attempted to pull it over but the driver fled. Police say they didn't chase it immediately, but found it a short time later.
This time the driver was waving a gun outside of her window so they chased her to a parking lot near the intersection of Jones Boulevard and Spring Mountain Road.
Officers say they tried to have a conversation with the woman to get her to drop her weapon but she fired instead, prompting officers to do the same. The woman was pronounced dead on the scene.
