LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a homicide in the east valley Sunday night.

Lt. Jason Johansson provided a statement on the investigation happening at the 6400 block of Boulder Highway. This is near the intersection of Boulder Highway and East Russell Road.

Lt. Jason Johansson said southeast officers arrived to a gas station at the corner of Boulder Highway and East Russell Road around 4:45 p.m. when they received reports of gunshots in the area.

When police arrived, they found a Black man in his 40s at the scene and they rendered aid until medical arrived. When medical arrived, they pronounced the man dead at the scene.

Investigation by police indicates that the victim and the suspect got into an altercation in front of a gas station. The two both had firearms, but the suspect, a Hispanic man in his 20s, shot the victim first and fled.

Police also said the suspect looks like he is cleanly shaven.

The Hispanic male fled the scene across Boulder Highway according to police, and the suspect is still outstanding.

Police said there is video of the suspect, but Johansson said police are currently reviewing it.

Johansson urged anyone with information about the shooting to contact Metro's Homicide Section at 702-828-3521. Anonymous tips can be made through Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555 or online at crimestoppersofnv.com. He indicated there may be reward money available.
