Las Vegas Monorail could expand to Mandalay Bay

Las Vegas Monorail is exploring the possibility of expanding the train farther down the Strip.

According to a Las Vegas Monorail spokeswoman, the company is talking about expanding the monorail after it was recommended by the Regional Transportation Commission. The proposal would expand the monorail from the MGM Grand hotel-casino to Mandalay Bay hotel-casino -- around an additional mile of the Strip.

The monorail company is currently exploring the feasibility of the project, including working on the land use application process with Clark County.

The Las Vegas Monorail Company has an initial presentation at a Clark County Commission meeting in October and again in November.

The monorail currently goes from the SLS hotel-casino down to the MGM Grand.
