Vegas man dies in possible drowning in Hawaii

An 80-year-old Las Vegas man died after struggling in the water in Hawaii Thursday.

Police responded to a possible drowning at Hapuna Beach State Recreation Area on the big island just before 3 p.m.. When they arrived, they learned that Glen Giles had been about 20 yards in the water when he called for help.

Giles was taken to shore and CPR was attempted. He was taken to North Hawaii Community Hospital where he was pronounced dead around 4 p.m.

An autopsy will determine the cause of death.
