Las Vegas homecoming for 200 military members

Posted

Wednesday was good for the heart for Lt. Elizabeth Ochoa-Ellis and the 200 men and women of Nevada Army National Guard's 17th Sustainment Brigade as they came home from a 9-month deployment in Kuwait.

Ochoa-Ellis was reunited with her two kids, her husband and sister, one of many happy reunions Wednesday in Las Vegas.

"This is the first time I have seen my daughter since she was just over a year old," said Master Sgt. Abraham Smith.

These heroes will soon have a new commander in chief after Tuesday's election.

"Whatever comes, comes -- we are united as a nation," Ochoa-Ellis said.

"It doesn't matter Democrat or Republican, we are all Americans now we have to get behind the man and move forward," Smith said.

And for these soldiers moving forward means simply being together with family -- the greatest of all.
